DEATH: OBIT. Mrs. Sarah Johnston Dead. / Mrs. Sarah Johnston, of Harrison
township, died very suddenly at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Dr. Young,
of Turtle Creek. Mrs. Johnston was the widow of the late George Johnston, who
was a resident of Harrison township for 40 years, and she was well and
favorably known all through that and adjacent townships. Her deth was due to a
paralytic stroke. Deceased had been a member of the M.E. church more than fifty
years. She suffered from neuralgia for the past twenty years, but bore it all
with Christian patients [sic] and fortitude. She was born in Aetna borough in
1828, her maiden name being Sarah Mckee and in 1849 was married to George
Johnston settling on the old homestead in 1858, where her son Geroge R. still
lives. Deceased was the mother of nine children, three sons and six daughters,
of whom only four survive her, being Joseph C., George R., Lizzie and Emma,
Mrs. Dr. Young and Mrs. S.A. Hookey, respectively. The remains were brought to
the old Johnston homestead on Monday evening where funeral services were held
Wednesday at 2 p.m. The remains were interred in Prospect cemetery, by the side
