4. Joseph Walker YOUNG was born in 1814 in Oakland Crossroads, Mamont, Westmoreland, PA. He died on 21 Dec 1895 in Washington Twp., Westmoreland, PA. He was buried in Poke Run Cemetery, Mamont, Westmoreland, PA. RESEARCHER: Information compiled by Dr. Alfred Clyde Young, Sr. grandson, and
by correspondence with Dr. A.C. Young, Jr.. Also, notes compiled by Annalene
Hervy Callander who was raised by her grandparents, Dr. Alfred Gilmore Young,
son of Joseph.

ESTATE: Will dated 10 July 1895, probated 9 January 1896.
"In the name of God amen, I Joseph W. Young of Washington township
Westmoreland Co., Pa, being of advanced aged and weak in body but of sound and
disposing mind and memory do make and declare this to be my last will and
testament in manner following that is to say I order that all my just debts,
funeral expenses and charges of proving this my will be in the first place
fully paid and satisfied and after payment thereof, I give and bequeath to my
daughter Margaret Thon all my household goods clothing, furnitures, horses,
cattle and all movable property which I possess and two hundred dollars to be
paid to her as soon after my death as convenient I authorize my executors
herein after mentioned to sell my farm situated in Salem township joining lands
with the George Alcorn heirs James Cochrans heirs and others and after my debts
and bequests that I have already made be paid the balance to be equally divided
among my five daughters and son share and share alike namely, Matilda Ewer,
margaret Thon, Luisa Hall, Alfred Young, Annahan rugh, Settiah Wolf and I
hereby nominate and appoint Alfred Young and Franklin Rugh my executors of this
my will in witness whereof I the testator Joseph W. Young have to this my last
will and testament set my hand and seal this tenth day of July 1895.

Signed, sealed, published and delivered by the testator Joseph W. Young as and
for his last will and testament in the presence of us and at his request have
subscribed our names as witnesses thereto: Jos. Montgomery, Marion Rugh.
9th January 1896 Will filed and duly probated and Letters Testamentary were
issued to Alfred Young and Franklin Rugh who was sworn testator died Dec. 21,

DEATH: Obit. Dec. 1895. JOSEPH YOUNG DEAD / An Aged Washington Township Citizen
Passes Away Saturday / Joseph W. Young, an aged citizen of Washington township
died Saturday morning at 9 o'clock, of paralysis, aged 81 years. Deceased
sustained a stroke of paralysis about two weeks ago while working in the barn
and was found sometime later. He was carried into the house and the family
physician summoned but, owning to his advanced age, he failed to rally and died
at the time state above. Mr. Young was married to Margaret Steel, a sister of
James Steel, of near Hannastown, and was the father of six children, one son
and five daughters. Mrs. Young died about two years ago but the children are
all living. Their names are: Mrs. Robert Euwer, of Natrona; Mrs. A.M. Hall, of
Oakland X Roads; Mrs. Margaret Thorr, of Oakland X Roads; Dr. A.G. Young , of
Turtle Creek; Mrs. Frank Rugh, of this city, and Mrs. Rev. A.T. Wolff, of
Madison, South Dak. for a number of years he followed the tanning trade and was
very successful. His last years, however, were spent on his farm near Oakland X
Roads. He was a member of Poke Run Presbyterian church, and lived a sincere
christian life. He was a good citizen and neighbor and will be greatly missed
in the community.

Funeral services will be conducted at his late residence Tuesday afternoon,
by Rev. Henry Bain. Interment in Poke Run Cemetery. He was married to Margaret STEEL in 1836 in Westmoreland Co., Pennsylvania.

5. Margaret STEEL was born on 5 May 1815 in Washington Twp., Westmoreland, PA. She was buried in 1892 in Poke Run Cemetery, Mamont, Westmoreland, PA. She died on 18 Feb 1892 in Oakland Crossroads, Mamont, Westmoreland, PA. LAND RECORD: Westmoreland County. Vol. 49, Page 158, 5 Sep 1863. Grantor:
Margaret Young; Grantee: Sarah McCutcheon. Property Location: New Salem South
side of Pittsburg Street. Value: $300. Both parties are from New Salem Boro.
