2. Alfred Gilmore YOUNG Doctor was born on 31 Oct 1848 in Oakland Crossroads, Mamont, Westmoreland, PA. He died on 26 Nov 1911 in Collier Twp., Allegheny, PA. Obitituary: 11-26-1911. DR. YOUNG DEAD / Was a Member of Pioneer Family of
Western Pennsylvania. Dr. Alfred Gilmore Young, aged 63 years, who was a member of a pioneer Westmoreland county family, died at the family home, 512 Todd street on Sunday morning.
Dr. Young was the son of Joseph W. and Margaret Steel Young. Dr. Young's great grandfather, Captain John Young, was a famous soldier of the Revolutionary war and was one of the first settlers of Hannastown. Dr. Young received his early education in the rural schools of Westmoreland county and later entered the medical college of the University of Michigan, graduating with the class of '74. Later he took a post-graduate course at the Jefferson Medical college in Philadelphia. Dr. Young then practiced for several years in Greensburg. In 1875 he was married in Tarentum, Pa., to Miss Elizabeth Johnston. Later the family moved to Turtle Creek, where he continued to practice for several years. A number of years ago Dr. Young moved to Wilkinsburg where he continued to practice until 1903, when he retired. He was a member of the First United Presbyterian church. His widow and two children, Mrs. W.P. L'Hommedieu of San Francisco, Cal., and Clyde Young, of Wilkinsburg, and five sisters, survive. Funeral services were held at the family home on Tuesday evening, interment being at Polk Run, Wednesday.

Obituary: Dr. Alfred G. Young / Dr. Alfred Gilmore YOung died yesterday at his home, 512 Todd street, Wilkinsburg, aged 63. For years Dr. Young was a prominent physician in the Turtle Creek Valley. He was born on a farm in Westmoreland county, near Greensburg, Pa., the son of Joseph and Margaret Steele Young, his family having settled in the county int he early days. He was educated at the University of Michigan and graduated from Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, Pa. in 1874. He married Miss Elizabeth Johnston of Tarentum. Dr. Young practised medicine in Greensburg for four years and then went to Kansas for his health, later returning and taking up practice in Turtle Creek. He retired in 1903. He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Wilkinsburg, whither he went in 1903. He leaves his widow; a daughter, Mrs. W.P. L'Hommedieu of San Francisco; a son, Clyde, and two grandchildren. He was buried on 29 Nov 1911 in Poke Run Cemetery, Mamont, Westmoreland, PA. 3. Elizabeth JOHNSTON was born on 17 Apr 1853 in Natrona, Westmoreland, PA. She died on 30 Dec 1928 in Wilkinsburg, Allegheny, PA. She was buried on 3 Jan 1929 in Poke Run Cemetery, Mamont, Westmoreland, PA. Birth and Marriage records compiled by granddaughter Annalene Hervy Callendar and son Dr. Alfred Clyde Young, Sr. now in possession of great granddaughter Sara Leslie Griffith.
Elizabeth raised granddaughter Annalene as a daughter. She had to turn her home into a boarding house for many years, after her husband could no longer practice medicine.
