PARENTS: Silas Horton, born Southold, L.I., 1730, son of Barnabas Horton and
Mary Swezey (Swazey). Silas removed to Orange County, NY with his father, where
he was brought up on a large dairy farm in Goshen, where he died. Married in
1755, Experience Vail, born about 1732 in Goshen, daughter of Jeremiah and Mary
Vail. (Vail Family Genealogy (FD17) states that Experience was daughter of
Samuel Vail who married Hannah Petty, 7 Aug 1723 and moved to Shelter Island)
