1831, legatees: Wife Elizabeth, Son Jesse, Son Joseph, Daughter Eve, Daughter
Rebecca, Daughter Elizabeth, Daughter Margaret, Son Thomas. Executors, sons
Jesse and Joseph.
WILL: Dated 7 Dec 1829, probated 29 April 1831.

County, PA and Elizabeth, his wife for $550 paid by Thomas Griffith of the
County and State aforesaid, son of the said Jesse & Elizabeth, his wife,

acres...dated 27 Feb 1817 to Thomas Griffith by deed dated 20 March 1818.
Recorded 11 April 1819.
Named as brother in Thomas Griffith will dated 28 Feb 1826.
DEED: In a letter from Emma Nixon Bolton to Edwin Tyson, of Menallen Meeting,
it is stated that Jesse and Elizabeth were married prior to 1800 as they sign
a
deed together in 1800. I haven't located the deed. Jesse

1. On 27 Feb 1817, Thomas Griffith, son of Jesse & Elizabeth Griffith (all
residents of Napier Twp., Bedford Co., PA) purchased a tract of 153+ acres in
Center Twp., Indiana Co., PA, from his parents. Deed Book 4, page 80.
2. On 5 Nov 1836, Thomas & Sarah Griffith sold the above tract of 153+ acres
in Center Twp., Indiana Co, PA, to John Risinger. Deed Book 95, page 126.
3. On 6 Mar 1837, just four months after the above sale, Thomas Griffith
purchased a tract of 135+ acres in Center Twp., Indiana Co, PA from Robert
McLanahan, Jr. Deed Book 9, page 402.
4. On 27 Jun 1839, Thomas Griffith and his wife Sarah sold off 2+ acres of the
above tract to their neighbor, James Elwood. Deed Book 11, page 105.
5. On 1 Mar 1882, Samuel H. Griffith and Thomas G. Row, executors of the
estate of Thomas & Sarah Griffith, sold the remaining 133 acres of the tract
purchased in #3 above to Esther A. Cummins. Deed Book A-45, page 5.

Jesse GRIFFITH was born on 21 Dec 1800 in , Bedford, PA. He died on 24
Mar 1890 in White Twp., Indiana, PA. He was buried on 26 Mar 1890 in Greenwood
Cem., Indiana, PA. !OBITUARY: Indiana Times, 3/26/1890. Jesse Griffith, White
Twp., died in his
home Monday morning 3/24/1890 was probably the oldest man in White Twp. being
over 90 years of age. Came from Bedford County when a young man and located on
the farm where he died. In 1827 he married Susannah Pilson. Eleven children.
Buried in Greenwood Cemetery at 12 o'clock Wed. 3/26/1890.
