Came to Somerset County April 12, 1812.
According to Historical Society records for Somerset County, Abner moved
with his father and brothers, Thomas, William, and Jesse from Bedford County
to Somerset County. Thomas coming in 1809, followed a couple of years later by
William and Abner, and Jesse coming last.

HISTORY OF BEDFORD, SOMERSET AND FULTON COUNTIES, 1884, p. 506: Abner
served as a county commissioner of Somerset county.

QUAKER RECORDS: Abner was granted a Certificate to Menallen M.M. (Adams County)
by Dunnings Creek M.M. (Bedford County) in order to marry on 11 Jun 1806.

MARRIAGE: Menallen Monthly Meeting records, reads in part:
25th of 6th mo. 1806. Whereas Abner Griffith son of William Griffith and Sarah
his wife of Bedford Township in the County of Bedford and State of Pennsylvania
and Mary Owen daughter of John Owen and Sarah his wife of Tyrone Township Adams
County and State aforesaid...this twenty fifth day of the sixth month eighteen
hundred six...at Monallen. WITNESSES: Catharine McKnight, Ann McGrew, Nancy
McElhinney, Victor NcElhinney, Nancy King, Nancy Elliott, Mary McGrew, Mary
Kirk, Amos Boen, Elizabeth Bateman, John Bateman, Wm Wright, Mary McGrew,

ESTATE: WILL dated 28 APR 1832, registered 21 Feb 1833
Jenner Twp., Somerset, PA. Reads: In the name of God Amen. I Abner Griffith of
the County of Somerset in Jenner Township in the state of Pennsylvania and I
being sick and weak in body but of sound and disposing mind of memory and
understanding considering the sertenty of deth and the uncertanty of the time
there of and being disirous to settle my worldly affairs and thereby be the
better prepared to leave this wourld when it shall please God to call me hence
do thereby make and publish this my last will and Testament in manner and form
folowing that is to say first and principally I Comit my soul, into the hands
of the Almity God and my body to the earth to be decently buried at the
discretion of my execturos herein after named and after my debts and my Funeral
charges are paid, I devise and bequeath as folows. I give and bequeath unto my
loved wife Mary five hundred dollars to be paid in property or money, beside
her bed and bedding. I give and bequeath unto my Five sons, John, William,
Abner, Levi, Eli, the tree places in the names of Peter Werts, Samuel Taylor,
Frederick Wagner. John to get the tract in the name of Peter Wertz containing
200 Acres whereon he now lives and also 20 Acres of the tract in the name of
Andrew Hatry ajoining the above for the sum of twelve hundred dolars. William
to get one hundred and fifty acres where he now lives in the name of Frederick
Wagner according to the lines that was marked on the ground for the sum of
twelve hundred dollars. Abner to get one hundred and fifty acres of the west
side of a tract in the name of Samuel Taylor caled the home place for the sum
of ten hundred and fifty dollars. Levi to get the north end of the Wagner tract
containing one hundred and fity acres at the sum of nine hundred dollars. Eli
to get the home place containing one hundred and fifty acres for the sum of
twelve hundred dollars. The places wiled to Abner, Levi, Eli, the ishews and
prophets to go towards maintaining my wife Mary and the minor children till of
age after my decease. I will to my daughters, Sarah, Mry Ann and Deborah five
hundred dollars each which will amount to fifteen hundred dollars. I devis and
bequeath all the rest and residue of my Estate both real and personal to be
equally divided to my eight children viz. John, William, Sarah, Maryann, Abner,
Levi, Deborah, Eli and my wife Mary as long as she remains my widow let it be
understood that my will is tht each and everyone is to go share and share alike
acording to their portion to grante the deeds of the places that is in the
names of Samuel taylor and Frederick Wagner to satisfy the mortgage if it has
any affect and lastly I do hereby constitute and appint my two sons John and
William Griffith to be my sole Executors of this my last Will and testmaent
revoking annuling all former will by me heretofore made ratifying and
confirming this and none than to be my last Will and testament in testimony
whereof I have here unto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty eighth day
of April in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty two.

This 21st day of February 1833 Personally Appeared before me Chaunsey Forward
Register for the probate of Wills and granting letters of Administration in and
for said County Emanuel Cover and William Griffith two of the subscribing
witnesses to the written will and being duly swarn and affirmed according to
law do depose and say that they were present and Wm Griffith says he signed his
name as a witness at request of Testator who had proviously signed it. Saw and
heard Abner Griffith the testator sign, seal, publish, pronounce and declare
the foregoing instrument of writing as and for his testament and last will, and
that at the time of so doing he was of Perfect and sound mind memory and
understanding to the best of their knowledge and belief.

He was married to Mary OWEN (daughter of John OWEN and Sarah KIRK) on 25 Jun 1806 in Menallen M.M., York, PA. Mary OWEN was born on 7 Jul 1781 in , , PA. She died on 5 Apr 1858 in , Somerset, PA. She was buried in Jenner Twp., Baptist Church, Somerset, PA. She has reference number 33. BURIAL: Inscription: In Memory of / Mary, / Wife of / Abner Griffith / died
April 5 1858 / Aged 76 yrs 8 / mos & 26 ds. (Birth computed from elapsed
time on tombstone.)

12-10-1806 Dunnings Creek Minutes of the Proceedings of the Monthly Meetings
of Women Friends, Dunnings Creek, Bedford County reported "Mary Griffith hath
produced a certificate from Menallen Monthly Meeting." Abner GRIFFITH and Mary OWEN had the following children:
