ESTATE: Will, dated 28 Apr 1901, probated 29 Nov 1901: Be it Remembered, That
I, Levi Griffith, of the City of Johnstown, County of Cambria and State of
Pennsylvania being of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, and
considering the uncertainty of life, do therefore make, plublish and declare
this to be my last Will and Testament, in manner and form following, tht is to
say: Item I direct that all my just debts, funeral expenses and charges of
proving this, my will, shall, in the first place, be paid and fully satisfied
by my Executors hereinafter named. Item I give and devise unto my wife Susannah
the house and lot whereon I now reside, situate at No. 808 Franklin street,
city of Johnstown, County of Cambria, Pennsylvania, to have, hold and enjoy the
same, for and during the term of her natural life. I also give and bequeath to
my said wife all the household furniture contained in the said dwelling house
at the time of my decease, for and during the term of her natural life. I
further direct my Executors to set aside one-third of the residue of my Estate,
in trust to pay over to my said wife the interest and income arising therefrom
annully during her natural life and said one-third is hereby fiven, devised and
bequeathed for that purpose. The foregoing provisions for and on behalf of my
said wife are made and intended to be in lieu and in full satisfaction of her
right and calim of dower and exemption which she might have in my estate under
the Intestate and Exemption laws of this Commonwealth. Item. After the death
of
my said wife I hereby authorize and direct my Executors hereinafter named to
sell the above mentioned real estte and personal property, either at public or
private sale, and to make, execute and deliver proper deeds and conveyances to
the purchasers, and to distribute and pay over the proceeds thereof as
hereinafter directed. Item. I give and bequeath to the Trustees of the Hopewell
Methodist Episcopal Church of Jenner Towsnhip, Somerset County, Pennsylvania,
the sum of Two Hundred Dollars. Item. I authorize and direct that all the rest
and residue of my Estate, real, personal and mixed, whatsoever and wheresoever
situate shall be converted into cash as soon as conveniently may be after my
decease, and for that purpose I hereby authorize He was married to Mary HARE
on 28 Sep 1837 in Jenner Twp., Somerset, PA. Mary HARE
was born on 23 Aug 1817 in Jenner Twp., Somerset, PA. She died on 20 May 1860
in Jenner Twp., Somerset, PA. Unverified wife of Levi, name from an obituary
for Matthew Stewart Griffith
which states his parents were Levi and Paula (Hair) Griffith. Since Levi is
buried in Hopewell Cem. and Matthew Stewart Griffith was also interred there,
this is an assumption on parenthood. Other sources indicate Levi's wife was
Mary Hare and he is buried with Mary H.

illegible. Lists Edward as 12 years, son of Levi Griffith.

Matthew Stewart GRIFFITH was born on 2 Oct 1852 in Jenner Twp., Somerset,
PA. He died on 21 Apr 1953 in Derry, , PA. Obit dated 1953 reads: MATTHEW STEWART
GRIFFITH died April 21, at 12:00 noon,
at the home of his son, Geary Griffith, at Derry. Born in Jenner Township, PA,
October 2, 1852, a son of the late Levi and Paula (Hair) Griffith. He was a
retired farmer and a member of the Derry Methodist Church. His wife, Eliza Jane
Griffith preceded him in death in 1938. Survived by the one daughter, Mrs. Lilly
C. Ulerieth and one son, Geary R. Griffith of Derry, three grandchildren, seven
great grandchildren and seven great greatgrandchildren. Funeral will be held
from the T.P. Dripps residence at West Fourth Street, Derry, Thursday evening
at 8:00 pm, Rev. L.M. Bonner, pastor of the Derry Methodist Church will
officiate. Interment in Hopewell Cemetery, Somerset County, Friday afternoon.
